REVIEW POWEREX MH-C980 TURBO – FAST CHARGER FOR 8 RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

Maha MH-C980 Turbo is a charger with eight independent charging channels for up to 8 AAA / AA batteries. It can charge up to 8 fixed 2000 mAh batteries in one hour, if the situation requires it. Normal charging is done in about two hours (1000 mAh per hour). With the previous model, the new MH-C980 comes with a 40 mm fan to cool internal circuits throughout the charging process. The MH-C980 is a charger that took the form of the old MH-C801D (review) , and the design changes were not major.

USE

The Powerex MH-C980 was tested exclusively with the new 2700 mAh Powerex Pro accumulators. They were downloaded with Powerex C9000 and loaded in ~ 80 minutes in Turbo mode and ~ 160 minutes in standard mode with the MH-C980. The charger has three charging modes: Turbo Charge, Normal Charge and Reconditioning. The operating interface is simplified, and with the two buttons we can set the load modes.

The fan has a noise during charging of 40-50 dB.

The Powerex MH-C980 is a loader with an outer plastic construction that seems quite resistant to accidental impact with the ground. The charger has a motherboard with independent optic circuits that are cooled by a 40 mm fan. It presents itself as a solid charger made for the price demanded by the Powerex.

Turbo Charge module

In this way, the charger is able to charge 8 batteries of 2700 mAh in a maximum of 100 minutes. The charging voltage in this mode is 2 Amps. This mode is ideal for those who need a short charging time, but if we abuse this fast charging mode, the batteries will wear more quickly. A reconditioning session is recommended every 20 cycles of loading / unloading.

Normal Charge Mode

Normal mode loads the 8 Powerex Pro 2700 mAh batteries in about 210 minutes. The charging voltage is 1 amp. Slower charging provides longer battery life and a slower and more stable discharge during use. For those who do not have a problem waiting, it is an optimal way of loading.

Reconditioning mode

The reconditioning function is borrowed from the Powerex C9000 analyzer and involves an initial charge, followed by a discharge and another charge, to recharge the batteries. This process can take up to 24 hours, depending on the capacity of the attached batteries. This mode is recommended to be used once in 20 full-cycle loading / unloading cycles. The reconditioning function can save the problem batteries.

CONCLUSION

The Powerex MH-C980 is a charger that is improved on all aspects of the previous model. It’s good for those who are still using AAA / AA batteries along with patches. The two loading modes offer user flexibility. Rapid charging is an option for moments when you hurry to charge 16 batteries in 3 hours. When not in a hurry, there is a standard load mode, and after 15-20 Turbo charging cycles, it is recommended to recharge the batteries through a refreshing process with the conditioning mode available along with the MH-C980.

The construction is solid, cooling is welcome but loud, not recommended to charge the batteries at night. Besides that, he is an excellent charger who deserves his money. I recommend the uploader for event photos that need a quick product to load the 5-10 sets needed for long events.
